Consulting

Every successful project begins with a thorough understanding of the land and the people who care for it. We work closely with clients to clarify goals, identify site priorities, and conduct detailed field assessments to determine the scope of work. Our ecological expertise allows us to evaluate site conditions—such as vegetation communities, soil quality, erosion concerns, and invasive species presence—to inform the most effective path forward.

This groundwork lays the foundation for restoration or vegetation management plans that are ecologically sound, realistic, and aligned with the long-term vision for the site.

Invasive Species Management

Invasive species pose a serious threat to sensitive ecosystems, often outcompeting native vegetation, disrupting habitat integrity, and reducing biodiversity. As certified Integrated Pest Management (IPM) specialists, we take a science-based, environmentally responsible approach to invasive species control. Our methods comply with the Integrated Pest Management Act, ensuring that our clients remain in full regulatory compliance.

We develop targeted management plans tailored to each site, using a combination of mechanical, cultural, and—when necessary—chemical control techniques. Our goal is to suppress invasive species effectively while promoting the recovery of native plant communities and long-term ecological resilience.

Plant Prescriptions

Our planting plans are never one-size-fits-all. We tailor our plant prescriptions to the specific goals of our clients and the ecological realities of each site. Every plan is grounded in a deep understanding of site-specific ecological conditions—including soil type, hydrology, existing vegetation, and the degree of site degradation—while centering the values and priorities of rights-holders and clients.

We design plant communities that foster long-term ecological resilience, support natural succession, and enhance habitat for wildlife. Where appropriate, we incorporate traditional food and medicine species, supporting cultural revitalization alongside ecological restoration. Whether reintroducing rare native plants or establishing a climate-adapted food forest, each species is selected with intention to contribute to the broader vision of the project.

Landscape Design

Our landscape design services integrate ecological function with aesthetic and practical goals. With experienced horticulturists on our team, we design resilient, site-specific landscapes that enhance biodiversity, support pollinators, and thrive under local environmental conditions.

In addition to restoration and native planting projects, we specialize in designing plant communities for functional outcomes, such as slope stabilization, erosion control, and stormwater management. Whether we're establishing a native plant garden, a food forest, or a pollinator corridor, our work reflects a strong foundation in both plant ecology and landscape performance.

Soil Remediation

Healthy ecosystems begin with healthy soil. Our soil remediation services focus on restoring soil health as a foundation for successful ecological restoration. We collect and analyze soil samples to identify contaminants and assess soil quality. Where contamination is present, we implement appropriate strategies such as targeted removal, compost amendment, or bioremediation.

We’re proud to partner with Fixed Earth Innovations to develop custom microbial blends that support plant growth naturally. These beneficial microbes and mycorrhizal associations enhance nutrient cycling—supplying nitrogen, phosphorus, and other essential elements directly to plant roots—eliminating the need for chemical fertilizers.

Chemical fertilizers can degrade water quality and contribute to lake eutrophication. By using microbial amendments, high-quality compost, and nature-based remediation methods, we help restore soil function while protecting surrounding ecosystems. For us, responsible restoration starts from the ground up.

Native Plant Sourcing

We grow a wide selection of native plants in our own nursery, with a focus on propagating species local to the region. By producing plant material on-site, we maintain full control over quality, support hyper-local adaptation, and reduce the ecological footprint of our projects.

When additional stock is needed, we source from other trusted British Columbia nurseries that share our commitment to ecological integrity. From custom native seed mixes and live stakes to large-caliper trees, we can fulfill planting plans of any scale.

While we’re fully equipped as a registered importer and can access specialized species from across North America when necessary, our sourcing hierarchy always begins at home—because the most resilient restoration starts with local roots.

Native Plant Installation

Whether you need an entire landscape restored or a single flower bed planted, our team brings care, efficiency, and expertise to every project. With experienced horticulturists on staff, we are well-versed in the proper handling, placement, and transplanting of native species—from delicate plugs to large-caliper trees.

We approach every planting with precision and a strong work ethic, ensuring that each plant has the best chance to thrive. Our installation work supports the long-term health of restored ecosystems, with plant communities designed to establish quickly, support wildlife, and endure over time.

Greenroofing & Living Walls

We offer innovative green infrastructure solutions, including Green Roofs and Living Walls. In partnership with Soprema, we are proud to offer the installation of Sopranature® green roofs across Southern Vancouver Island. Both green roofs and living walls provide a range of environmental and practical benefits, such as:

  • Improved Stormwater Management: Absorbing and filtering rainwater, reducing runoff and preventing flooding.

  • Enhanced Thermal Efficiency: Reducing heat loss in the winter and heat gain in the summer, contributing to more energy-efficient buildings.

  • Increased Biodiversity: Creating green spaces that support local wildlife and promote urban biodiversity.

  • Improved Air Quality: Capturing particulate matter and carbon dioxide, leading to cleaner air for surrounding communities.

  • Space Optimization: Transforming underutilized spaces—whether roofs or walls—into vibrant, productive green areas.

Our green infrastructure is designed to bring nature into urban environments, improving both the aesthetic and environmental quality of buildings. Whether you're looking to reduce energy costs, manage stormwater, or simply enhance the beauty of your building, both our green roofs and living walls offer sustainable, functional solutions.

Maintenance

Proper restoration is an ongoing process, and effective management—particularly when dealing with invasive species—requires continuous monitoring and regular maintenance. We offer tailored maintenance plans to ensure that restored landscapes remain healthy and resilient over time. From invasive species control to plant health assessments and adaptive management, our team supports the long-term success of every project.

In addition to hands-on maintenance, we provide on-site training to clients and land stewards, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to care for their landscapes after our work is done. Whether it's identifying early signs of re-invasion or understanding seasonal care requirements, we’re committed to building lasting capacity alongside ecological resilience.
